If you lose your debit card, what do you do?
Can you get a replacement unemployment debit card if you lose or misplace your card? How to Avoid Unemployment Debit Card Scams
The unemployment debit card scammers are criminals who target the unemployed to gain access to their funds. There is a way to protect yourself. Once your unemployment claim is set up, unemployment offices never ask for personal information. Therefore, the chances of you dealing with a scammer are high if you are contacted by phone, email, or text message requesting the following information:
- Social Security number
- Bank card/direct payment card number
- Direct deposit account number
- PIN
If you want to protect your privacy, don’t share any of the above information with third parties.
Customers of Bank of America who has lost or stolen their debit cards can contact customer service

- Options for payment
Employers pay benefits using a ReliaCard® Visa debit card or direct wire transfer. If you do not choose direct transfer, you will receive a ReliaCard® debit card.
Direct remittance
With direct money transfer, we electronically transfer weekly benefits to your checking or savings account with a bank, credit union, or savings and loan association. To apply for direct remittance, you need to provide your bank number and account number.
How To Apply:
Please use the online claim system, then select “Electronic Money Transfer” from the main menu, select to enter your information, or
Print the electronic money transfer authorization and send it to us.
You can find the Direct Money Transfer Authorization online by visiting the Form.
If you do a direct money transfer, it will take us 2 weeks to verify your account information. During verification, you will receive your benefits by paper check. Submitting additional direct money requests before verification is complete will cause the system to start a new verification process and delay your direct money setup.
ReliaCard Visa
With the Bank of America ReliaCard Visa Card, we will deposit your benefits to a prepaid card. The card can be used anywhere Visa cards are accepted. There are no fees for the use of the ReliaCard.
Please pay attention to checking the card in the mail. We ship in white envelopes marked with a return address in Indianapolis. Do not discard the card, even if you have made a direct transfer. If your direct money transfer fails, for whatever reason, we will automatically switch back to the ReliaCard payment method.
